Ok, so in the last two weeks, maybe one and a half, I have witnessed two huge cops takedowns. One was outside Dante's, where apparently 5 kids were brandishing a rifle while driving around in their SUV (no idea what kind of rifle or SUV, but apparently after everything went down, they let the guys go away - weird) Astonishing to see loads of cops, very COPS style, have their driver's side open with guns drawn. Luckily nothing bad happened.

Tonight, as I was walking home from the Handy Slut, I nearly got killed as a pedestrian by a flying by cop. Outside of B-side and Rontoms, apparently, some dude AGAIN brandished a gun and actually put some other dude down on the the ground with his gun in the back of his head, a la being arrested, but not being a cop.

Please note, none of this had to do with the bars mentioned. It happened outside.

Now, I come from DC, and worked in the 'hood when it was the purported "Murder Capital of The World" and lived through the "Bitch set me up" Marion Barry. (When I first came here and saw Marionberry Jelly, I thought it was a joke and brought tons of it back to fam and friends - about 12 years ago)

I saw my first dead body in Portland. About 6 years ago outside the former Joe's Place, which is now The Nest. Alberta aint like that anymore, which is good, albeit "gentrification." One would think that I would have witnessed a ton more violence in DC, but I seriously haven't seen stuff like what's happened recently here in PDX. (the past two weeks) AND, I was there in DC when the sniper craziness happened. That was scary - covered gas stations - but again, never saw cops nor dead bodies.

I celebrated my bday this past Wednesday, as you dear readers know, and I was invited to the Trillium Absinthe Superieure (sorry Rich if i spelled that wrong) pre-release party. Famous mixologist Lucy Brennan served up two cocktails - one martini style, the other was a fruity concoction. Both with absinthe in them, and both lovely, as expected. There were also about 2934873294739289 glasses of absinthe on a table and many beautiful water taps placed on tables, complete with slotted spoons and cubes of sugar. Needless to say, I had a great time.

Also, eveything that's gone down at Green Dragon is totally weird and it is all up in the air. I shant post about it again til I actually know wtf is up with them.

On another note, PlanB fixed their refrigeration issues and got AC. That means cold beer and Jager for all, yay!

Also in the works is The Standard getting AC on Tuesday.

Yay for Portlands bars finally getting air conditioning. Seems we're moving up.
