What the eff is up with the purported "Punks" in this town?

Earlier tonight, I went to a bar in my neighborhood.  I had a great time meeting the *punks*, that just moved here from LA.  The rest of their friends, who are in the *scene* in Portland, showed up to this bar had no idea that two of my friends were theirs, and that I grew up in DC.  I don't even have to let you know who I worked for back then.  They completely took over the space in which I was sitting, and mostly the whole bar.  The bartrendess did a great job, but oi I wouldn't have  wanted to be her..

 They dismissed me, as I guess I tonight I looked as a hipster (which I entirely doubt) or just not cool, perhaps? (Though, anybody who is a hipster would never claim to be a hiptser.)

Unfortunately, I don't understand this cuture in Portand where eveyone thinks their opnion is right just by looking at how someone looks.

 Get over it.  We all have great attributes.  Doesn't matter how we dress. You have no clue what we've done or what we do

Bathroom Graffiti

Yea I really hate that. That attitude is rampant in Portland. Even at the Barfly Van party some punker-than-thou fool skeptically looked me and G up and down and asked, "So, what brings you HERE?" I almost snorted Vitamin Water out of my nose. He was serious! Now I'm tempted to dress completely Buffy at the next Barfly party. Maybe Macy's is having a sale on the Jessica Simpson collection,and Claire's is right by there! If only there's another party scheduled on Sunday...hint hint Kyle!

I can so totally see this occurring... Especially the Vitamin Water coming out of your nose, dressed as Buffy. Thanks, yet again, for the laugh. Sorry the next party's on a Wednesday.

Well, maybe it's because it's, oh, 2008--almost 2009, and punks have about as much cultural relevance as stinking hippies. And unless you're a 17 yr old kid from the suburbs, the music's generally no better.
